[his head cants to the side as he, too, considers this...]
I never thought to question that. Just why things happened the way they did within that world. [akaza never could have killed kyojuro, if they'd been sent to different worlds, but then everything else would have wound up different, too, and... ugh, it's just a headache to think about it all. easier to focus on the life hakuji lived, here.]
... As much the same or different as many of you are. He grew older and a little bit more open, but even right now, I still see a lot of him in you -- mind you, I don't expect you to be any particular way; you are your own person. He studied a bit under both Kyojuro and I, though I think he took more to swordsmanship. [which probably isn't at all surprising, given muichiro's current life.]
[admittedly, hakuji doesn't know the details of muichiro's new life, but given the stories of those in a similar position... he can only imagine, in connecting the dots. his face falls, but he tries to avoid letting his sympathy fall too close to pity.]
From what I could tell, you all seemed happy. It was obvious enough your family loved one another.
His father and mother were so kind and so young, they didn't deserve to die so early, and his brother definitely didn't, perceived wrongs aside. He was an amazing brother, just... hurt by what happened. ]
[it says so much about the short life muichiro has already lived, for him to be so accepting and mature in his response. hakuji was lucky enough, in his life, not to lose anyone he knew well, at least not before the end. but he's aware even his own reincarnation didn't share that luck.
he takes the tea off of the fire and pours muichiro a cup. pours himself one, too, after a moment, if only because it sounds soothing.]
That's alright. I don't mind answering them, especially if it helps put your mind at ease.
I just... am glad some version of them got to be happy and live fuller lives.
[ It doesn't make this life any less unfair, but... it means that they got to be happy once. It's something. Maybe in the next one they'll be happier still. ]
